Burglars often enter homes through unlocked garage side doors or windows, then enter through unlocked passage doors between the residence and the garage. Burglaries have occurred involving purses, wallets, checks, credit cards and vehicle keys. Vehicles are sometimes stolen in this manner. Suspects have sometimes even entered the homes while the residents were sleeping.
It is very important for all homeowners to:
- · Secure all exterior doors and windows.
- · Have good outdoor lighting and keep it on during the evening hours.
- · Always lock the passage door between the residence and the garage.
- · Do not leave your keys in the vehicle.
- · Keep your garage doors locked at all times.
- · Do not leave valuables out for easy access to intruders.
- · Report all suspicious activity in your neighborhood immediately by calling 911 or 303.795.4711.
